Making Santa Clarita Home!

The City of Santa Clarita established in December 1987, with an elevation of about 1200 feet, is a beautiful community nestled in a triangular area surrounded by oak studded hills, and includes the communities of Newhall, Valencia, Canyon Country and Saugus . The City is approximately 50 square miles and is conveniently located between Interstate 5 and State Route 14, and about 38 miles north of downtown Los Angeles. Santa Clarita is a USA Tree City, has high ranking schools, beautiful scenery, and lots of natural open spaces to enjoy. Within a half hour you can also enjoy beaches, mountains, lakes - there is so much to invite you to make this valley your own!

 

Santa Clarita - a Fabulous Place to Live! 

Santa Clarita is one of the top 50 places to live in the United States, and it's one of the top 5 safest cities of all the cities with a population of over 100,000 people. Valencia is listed in the book "Lee & Saralee Rosenberg's 50 Fabulous Places to Raise Your Family". And in the January 2004 issue of Money Magazine, Santa Clarita is listed as #7 of "America's Hottest (as in best places to live) Towns" to live in the West with a population of over 100,000. And just recently, CNN named Santa Clarita as #18 in their list of best places to live in the U.S. We think you'll agree that Santa Clarita is a great place to call home! The average high temperature in January is 64 degrees, with a low of 34. In the 35 years that we have lived in Santa Clarita, it has snowed 3 times! That is indeed a rare and wonderful time for us Southern Californians! The average high in July is 94 degrees with a low of 64. There is a nice cooling breeze in the summer nights, so we generally don't need our air conditioners at night.


 

So...What's the Difference between Santa Clarita and Valencia?

Confused about the difference between Santa Clarita, Santa Clarita Valley, Valencia, Stevenson Ranch, Tesoro del Valle, Saugus, Newhall, Canyon Country, Castaic, Sand Canyon, Plum Canyon, Fair Oaks Ranch??  Well. you're not the only one! Usually when a new client comes into my office for our initial consultaion, I take out a map and explain.

The Santa Clarita Valley is a triangular area surrounded by mountains; within the valley is the city of Santa Clarita; and within the city are the communities of Valencia, Newhall, Saugus, and Canyon Country. Outside of the city limits are Stevenson Ranch, Castaic, Fair Oaks Ranch, Tesoro del Valle, as well as parts of the community of Valencia, parts of the community of Canyon Country, and parts of Saugus. However, all of these areas make up the Santa Clarita Valley.
